Sailor Girls on Midnight Patrol for Willow Wood

Three of our lady members Janet, Lesley and Jenny took part in this years Willow Wood annual Midnight Wander on Friday July 3rd. They joined more than 1,800 pink ladies who took to the streets of Tameside for the annual 10k walk which starts and finishes in Cheetham’s Park, Stalybridge.

The girls sailed round the course in about three hours. Lesley commented that near to the end of the walk they were all very tired, however they were delighted with the vocal encouragement provided by everyone they met around the course, in particular the crew of a fire truck who sounded their siren which provided the final boost they all needed to get to the finish line (nothing to do with hunky firemen then?)

Cash is still being counted but it is thought that the girls have raised more than £300 pounds, which will go towards the overall expected total of around £165,000 for the Ashton hospice. Well that's another fine total going to a very worthy cause - all monies raised go directly on patient care for the people of Tameside and Glossop.
