The Ditch Plodders Charity Narrowboat Pull for The Christie

Mike Ball was an inspiration on how to live with cancer, he never let it stop him enjoying life and was always positive and cheery. He was a big supporter of Christie's and other cancer charities and organised CRAP (Cheshire Ring Action Posse) to walk the entire circuit of the Cheshire Ring canal raising an impressive £2,041.30 in the process.

And now.... another fundraiser is planned in memory of Mike and all our family and friends that have needed the support of The Christie, this time a narrowboat pull by hand from Marple Locks to the Cheshire Ring (where I am sure there will be much celebratory drinking!!!!). The team effort this time is going under the name of the Cheshire Ring Ditch Plodders.

Thanks go to Barbra Holmes, a director of the Ashton Packet Boat Company, for making available 'Maria', Britain's oldest surviving wooden narrowboat (built in 1854) for the event. Thanks also to Tudor Cruising Club, Ashton, for their invaluable advice and support.

It's all going to happen on Sunday, April 15th 2012. Let's make it a great team effort!
